The Colony has taken one more step to enhance its reputation as the Gulf Coast resort that does the most to welcome kids and to encourage family vacations. ALL CHILDREN UNDER 18 STAY FREE WITH THEIR PARENTS in either a one-bedroom villa suite, which accommodates up to four persons, or in a two-bedroom villa suite, comfortable for up to six people.
"KINDER KAMP" and "KIDDING AROUND," complimentary supervised daily children's programs for ages 3 to 6 and 7 to 11, run seven days a week, 365 days a year. The programs offer a variety of activities planned to delight small children, while allowing their parents time for themselves. The programs run from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1 until 4 p.m. Children and parents have the utmost flexibility with the programs, participating in only the activities they choose.
Activities include both outdoor and indoor games and projects, as well as field trips to local attractions such as the local Hands-On Museum and Mote Marine Aquarium. Children in Kinder Kamp enjoy programs such as creating animal masks, macaroni art, and face painting, plus beach activities like swimming, shelling and sandcastle building. Kidding Around activities include bottle art, macrame, friendship bracelets and mosaic tiles.
In addition to adding immeasurably to children's vacation pleasure, these programs at The Colony afford a unique holiday opportunity for parents, too. They can enjoy complimentary play on 21 tennis courts, or take advantage of other complimentary facilities such as Health Spas, Fitness Center, or the luxury of just taking it easy with a book on The Colony's 800 feet of private white gulf beach, or one of the private sunning decks or patios which are part of each villa suite.
For kids' and their parents' added vacation enjoyment, The Colony has also expanded its Saturday Pizza Movie Night to include planned, supervised activities from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday nights. Roller skating, mall movies, miniature golf and a variety of other events make evenings at The Colony more fun for kids and allow parents the luxury of dining without the children, and without the added expense of a baby-sitter.
