PETER'S BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL AND HOMECOMING, St. Peter's Park. Open-air concert, dances, entertainment, Blueberry Race, surf-and-turn barbecue, pancake brunch, parade. Harness racing, horse/livestock shows, midway, parade, exhibits, musical entertainment. Mid-August ANNUAL ABEGWEIT POW-W0W, Panmure Island Provincial Park. Sponsored by the Native Council of PEI. Sweats, sunrise ceremonies, games. Traditional dancing and drumming. Breakfast and supper provided. Lunch sold on park grounds. No drugs or alcohol. Mid-August GOLD CUP & SAUCER RACE AND GOLD CUP PARADE, Charlottetown Driving Park. One of Eastern Canada's most prestigious harness races. The largest parade in Atlantic Canada is the day before the race. Mid-August ANNUAL LUCY MAUD MONTGOMERY FESTIVAL, Cavendish. Daily performances by "Anne" and "Diana," traditional music, readings from L.M. Montgomery's work (including Anne of Green Gables), period games, ice cream social, barn dance, fish-tasting feast, memorial service for L.M. Montgomery, and more. Late August NATIONAL MILTON ACORN FESTIVAL, Charlottetown and across PEI. Poetry, stories and music plus much more in honor of poet Milton Acorn.
