Even when they are crowded in a row as though clinging to each other to keep from falling down, Victorian houses seem to be surrounded by a romantic atmosphere. None more so than Sardy House. Seeing it conjures up visions of an opulent interior; of tables set with snowy white linen and gleaming silver and crystal; soft candle light; lace curtains and fresh flowers, velvet or damask clothing windows. All these visions are reality at Sardy House. Ceilings are high and windows are tall and rather narrow (in Victorian times the outdoors was kept out). Arched top windows are of stained glass. Built in 1892, Sardy House is now 102 years old and has attained the status of a historic landmark.
The color scheme throughout the guest room and suites is mauve and gray. Beds and armoires are of cherrywood. Chairs are wicker, walls are covered with custom wallpaper and brass sconces are used as accents. There are also ceiling fans, while rose-patterned Axminster carpeting covers the floors that are as sturdy as the day Sardy House was built. Laura Ashley fabrics cover the duvets and all beds have feather comforters.
A complimentary full breakfast is served daily. Each morning there is a featured dish which may be the Sardy Omelet with brie and sauteed apple garni and freshly baked fruit breads. Dinner begins with Soup du Jour. This is followed by an appetizer, such as Tiger Prawns or Boneless Rocky Mountain Trout. An offered salad may consist of fresh garden greens, garden herbs and raspberry vinaigrette. Among the entrees are fresh filet of salmon and Roast Rack of Colorado Lamb. Soft classical music is piped into the dining room during the dinner hour.
