He met his wife, Emily, in December of that year when she and three other girls became stranded at Vailglo during one of the worst snowstorms to ever engulf Vail. Craig and Emily were married in 1975, and have run the lodge like a private home ever since. They lock the hotel at night when they close the front desk, and give every guest a key to the front door. White ash panelling and custom-made furniture dominate the decor of this contemporary style resort. The lobby has accents of pink Brazilian Juparana granite in its tabletops and fireplace. Complimentary coffee, tea, and Danish cookies are served all day by the fire, welcoming those who have just arrived, or just returned from the slopes. The hotel is adjacent to the slopes, and is also within easy walking distance of Vail's gourmet restaurants and famous shopping. In order to preserve its treasured quietude, the Vailglo Lodge does not accept groups. This makes it all the more attractive for the individual or couple seeking a peaceful retreat.
