The Pontchartrain Hotel, centrally located in the Garden District, was built in 1927 by the Aschaffenburg family and is now managed by Grand Heritage Hotels. The magnificent draped entrance opens into a grand lobby with vaulted ceiling and gleaming chandeliers.
Each spacious guestroom is individually decorated, with no two alike. The suites in this hotel are truly extraordinary. For example, the Richard Burton suite is decorated on a "Camelot" theme in honor of the late, great actor; and the magnificent new Imperial suite has Napoleonic decor in the Malmaison tradition.
For elegant dining atmosphere, the Caribbean Room is done in gorgeous shades of rose and pink and features wall murals by Charles Reinike. The cuisine, meticulously prepared, presents a tantalizing blend of French and Creole flavors. Oyster broth sets the stage for crabmeat Remick, tenderloin of beef Marchand, heart of artichoke Clamart, cheese and fruit a la Maison, all crowned by Mile-High pie. The excellent wine list offers both European and American vintages.
The Bayou Bar was inspired by the natural beauty of Louisiana scenic backwaters, again reflected in a Reinike wall mural. Piano music adds to your enjoyment of house specialties such as the mint julep and the Bayou Bomb.
The Pontchartrain Hotel offers conscientious quality service that is unrivaled anywhere.
