The internationally renowned Mansion on Turtle Creek was the first of the wonderful Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. The historic Mediterranean-style mansion, secluded within 4.6 acres of landscaped grounds, is only 5 minutes from Dallas' central business district.
The entrance foyer--a 32-foot-high rotunda with arched windows--sets the tone for the opulent interiors designed by James Northcutt/Hirsch Bedner and Associates.
All guest rooms are large, luxuriously comfortable and well- appointed. The furnishings are traditional and the art is original. French doors open onto individual balconies or private patios. Though all 14 suites vie for superiority, the 1200-square-foot Terrace Suite is truly incomparable.
The restaurant and bar occupy the original Sheppard King Mansion. In the main restaurant, a fireplace at each end and museum quality art on the walls create a grand ambiance. Our dinner there began with Louisiana crab cakes in a sauce of oysters and smoked peppers; then beefsteak tomatoes with Dallas mozzarella and avocado in a basil vinaigrette; roast Iowa lamb with artichoke tarragon sauce and wild mushrooms; and for dessert, white chocolate mousse in a tulip shell with raspberry sauce.
The Promenade Dining Room serves only breakfast and lunch. In the bar, the environment is like that of a most exclusive club; dark wood floor, low-beamed ceiling, forest green fabric walls and 18th-Century hunting paintings and lithographs.
Management and staff join in a sincere effort to provide the most enjoyable possible atmosphere for the guests. The hotel offers extensive facilities for business and pleasure while creating a special, memorable warmth.
