HOUSEBOATING: TEMPLE BAR RESORT Located on the Arizona side of Lake Mead, with its 550 miles of rugged cliffs and shoreline, Temple Bar has long been renowned as a headquarters for fishing and water-skiing. The fish are plentiful, and skiers will find unobstructed runs of 20 miles in either direction. For boating enthusiasts, Temple Bar Resort features a rental fleet of ski boats, patio boats, fishing boats and personal watercraft. In addition to a full marina complete with slips, moorage, gas dock and repair facilities, there is also a lakeview motel, fishing cabins, and RV park, restaurant and lounge, convenience store, and tackle and bait shop. For day use there is a paved 3,500 foot airstrip. We monitor 122.8 on the UNICOM and will provide transportation. Huge rock formations, including a giant monolith know as "The Temple," can be seen from Temple Bar Resort. You may even be able to view the west end of the Grand Canyon from your boat, lake level permitting. Temple Bar Resort offers convenient lakeside lodging and RV facilities. Our 18-unit motel offers color televisions and shower or tub in all rooms. For the true fisherman, we also have four "fishing cabins." Temple Bar Resort offers nautical dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner in its Tail O' The Whale restaurant. Or spend a relaxing evening in the lounge. Adjacent to the restaurant is a convenient store and tackle shop for all your boating needs, including souvenir t-shirts and captain's hats. Temple Bar Resort offers a varied selection of hourly, daily or weekly rentals including two-passenger SeaDoo's, 150hp Commander ski boats with comfortable seating, awnings and ice chests. Ski and fishing equipment package are also available. Lake Mead offers excellent year-round fishing. During the months of December through February, crappie fishing is excellent. Also during these months, stripers are available at 30 to 50 feet, and bass are found in the coves between March and May; bluegill come into their own in May. Bass, catfish and bluegill fishing are at their best from June through August; stripers are still in the coves at about 30 feet. From September through November, stripers are in shallow water; bass are good until the end of October, and crappie fishing picks up as the water cools. Fishing licenses are available at the resort.
