Travel Tip For Today
Bring one pair of comfortable walking shoes as well as a pair of sandals or Tevas. Before you leave home, break in your new shoes so you're not uncomfortable on the road.
Arrive Looking Great!
Travel Tips
There's nothing more harrowing than getting off a long flight and needing to meet with loved ones, friends or business associates and looking as if you just got off a long flight. The following are a few tips that have worked for me and some of my globe-trotting friends.
1. If you set your hair before getting on the plane, finger comb it until it looks presentable but don't comb it all the way out. Save that for your just-before-touchdown fix up.
2. If you have long hair, consider putting it up loosely for the flight and either leaving it up for arrival or brushing it out. Having it up will keep your style from being mussed.
3. Wear lots of moisturizer on your face, neck and hands when you board, then periodically mist your face with Evian and add a little light moisturizer and chap stick (about every 2 hours).
4. Drink plenty of water and juice and go easy on alcohol, teas, coffee and carbonated beverages, all of which dehydrate you.
5. Wear dark, comfortable clothing on board to avoid staining and creases. If possible, use that as your arrival outfit with the addition of a bright scarf. Otherwise, carry your arrival outfit on board in a small garment bag, such as the ones you get in the department stores with suits.
6. Most importantly, about 45 minutes before arrival, ask one of the flight attendants to sit with your child while you go to the bathroom. Retire there with all of your gear, including arrival outfit if necessary, and proceed to freshen up your makeup completely. (Some brave friends arrive at the airport wearing only lipstick and do their complete makeup just before arrival.)
