WINTER PARK VACATIONS WINTER CARNIVAL

A perennial family favorite in Winter Park, Colorado is the Winter Park Vacations Winter Carnival, scheduled this year for February 20-22, 2004. The event kicks off on Friday, when ice carvers will start work on ice sculptures to be displayed throughout the weekend. Kids can join in the fun and pick up a goody bag -- and maybe a prize -- at the snow sculpture contests. Spend Friday evening on Mt. Everest, by way of a slide presentation from one of our local explorers.

Everywhere you look on Saturday and Sunday, there's something fun to do: snowshoe races, treasure hunts, nature walks, Nordic technique clinics, snow soccer, snow volleyball, snowshoe softball, broom ball, snow angel decorating, obstacle courses, relay races - even fancy-dress ice skating! Saturday's fun will be highlighted by live music and a fashion show, followed by a fireworks display. Those in search of some high-powered fun can check out the Warrior Sno-X and Freestyle Snowcross Racing Circuit on Saturday and Sunday. And all weekend, throughout the area, local retailers and outfitters will be offering special deals on snowmobiling, dogsled rides, sleigh rides, and more.
