CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH Wilmington, North Carolina
HISTORIC WILMINTON & NORTH CAROLINA'S CAPE FEAR COAST
CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH Historic Wilmington and North Carolina's Cape Fear Coast are among the most historically significant African-American regions in the United States. African-American ancestry is traced back to the 1700s, and several historical sites still exist, such as the Cape Fear Museum, Bellamy Mansion, and Thalian Hall, as well as churches, cemeteries, homes and historical markers. During February, festivals and special events are scheduled to celebrate Black History Month. Other events that commemorate Black history take place throughout the year. MYSTERY WEEKEND LANGLEY MYSTERY WEEKEND In February each year, the quiet artist's colony of Langley, Washington becomes a giant mystery game where participants can investigate "the scene of the crime," interview suspects, collect clues, and win prizes by solving a mystery. Langley Mystery Weekend started as a creative way for the community to have some fun and liven up a winter weekend. It quickly became popular with visitors as well as locals. "The Crime" is traditionally "perpetrated" on the last weekend of February each year.
