Seasonal Recreation

Stowe’s Mt. Mansfield is the high point of Vermont, and it is world famous for its outdoor activities and adventures. During the spring and summer, Stowe offers an abundance of activities in an incredibly beautiful setting. The award winning, 5.3-mile, paved Stowe Recreation Path has spectacular views of the Green Mountains and is ideal for jogging, roller blading, bicycling, and strolling. It also offers safe pedestrian access to Stowe Village merchants. For those looking for something a bit more challenging, there is above-timberline hiking, mountain and road biking, horseback riding, angling, canoeing and kayaking, soaring, and swimming in glittering streams and lakes.

Vermont is world famous for its breathtaking fall foliage, and Stowe will not disappoint. The Green Mountains are set ablaze with an explosion of red, orange and gold a site that is truly breathtaking to behold. Generally, visitors can be assured of premier viewing from the last week of September through the first two weeks of October (with some color both before and after). But be sure to make your reservations early, as people from all over the world gather to experience nature at its finest.

In winter, Mt. Mansfield, with its excellent terrain, attracts skiers and snowboarders from all over the world. Stowe Mountain Resort is located on Mt. Mansfield, Vermont's highest peak at 4,395 feet above sea level. It is one of the oldest ski resorts in the United States, providing a variety of terrain choices for all ability levels. Especially noteworthy are its renowned Front Four trails: National, Starr, Lift Line, and Goat. The mountain has four good, long lifts that go from bottom to top, and beginning skiers are welcome across the road at Spruce Peak, which offers gentle, wide trails. Stowe also features sleigh- and dog sled rides, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and premier cross-country skiing.
