COUNTRY COTTAGES INTRODUCES GRANDPARENTS' HOUSE PARTY IN BRITAIN

Country Cottages is introducing a one-week house party in Britain for a family of six - grandparents, children and grandchildren - for $4,594.00 to $6,794.00, which covers transatlantic flights for all six, a three-bedroom cottage and two rental cars. Cottages are available in all major vacation areas of England, Scotland and Wales including the Lake District, Cotswolds, West Country and Highlands. Though many are several centuries old, the properties are fully equipped with modern baths and kitchens. Linens, cooking utensils, tableware, dishes and cutlery are provided.

Some cottages are near places associated with figures of interest to children such as the Lake District, where Beatrix Potter created Peter Rabbit and other beloved animals who frequented the area around Hill Top, her 17th century home at Near Sawrey. The house and the Beatrix Potter Gallery, with many of her original drawings, are open to the public. Winnie-the-Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and Christopher Robin roamed the woods of East Sussex, a county about an hour's drive from London. Author A.A. Milne vacationed with his family in the village of Hartfield and wrote the stories about his son and his stuffed animals that have been published around the world. Poohsticks Bridge and other points of interest are clearly marked. King Arthur is believed to have held court in the castle whose ruins stand on a seaside cliff at Tintagel, on the coast of Cornwall, the peninsula that forms England's far southwest. Cottages near Tintagel also provide easy access to beaches and picturesque Cornish towns.

The cost of a summer or Christmas vacations by two grandparents, two parents and two children under 12 years old is $6,794.00 between June 16 and September 6, or December 11-31. The price is reduced in spring and fall. Prices may vary according to the mix of generations, which must include at least one grandparent and grandchild.
