SUMMER FAMILY ACTIVITY PROGRAM AT HANALEI COLONY RESORT IN HAWAII

This summer Hanalei Colony Resort, Kauai's charming north shore hide away, will once again offer the popular family activity program. The program features a varying weekly schedule of activities designed for guests of all ages under the direction of a full-time coordinator. It will be offered to guests at the resort from June through September 15, 2001.

Hanalei Colony, a small oceanfront condominium resort, is a favorite travel destination for families who appreciate its secluded setting amidst the attractions and beauty of Kauai's famous north shore. The summer program offers a variety of hands-on cultural and craft activities for both children and adults throughout the week. Some activities are offered free of charge and others carry a nominal fee. Activities include lei making and demonstrations by Coconut Joe on the various palm frond-weaving techniques used to create baskets, flowers, fish and more. For guests, who would like to paint their own portrait of paradise, art classes are offered with a local artist. A complimentary continental breakfast and an afternoon Mai Tai party by the pool are planned once a week for guests to enjoy and mingle with other families.

With special activities planned for the keiki (children), parents will have plenty of time on their own to explore the island or enjoy an evening on the town. Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to learn Hawaiian crafts and hula and listen to Hawaiian stories at Keiki Kamp, a three-hour session offered on selected days. There is a $20.00 charge for Keiki Kamp, which includes a light snack and juice. Supervised evenings for children ages 5-12 are scheduled two nights a week, where children can read stories, watch movies, and enjoy a pizza dinner. There is a $25.00 charge for the evening Nanea program. In addition, Hanalei Colony provides information on other activities in the surrounding area that parents and children can enjoy together, such as a guided tour of the nearby Limahuli Garden (part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden network), or local community events.

Summer rates start at $180.00 per night for a two-bedroom condominium unit, and the seventh night is offered free with a stay of six paid nights.
