Adding a twist to traditional cooking classes, The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona is offering the "We Gourmet" Cooking School, a new package with separate cooking classes and activities for both parents and kids.
The four day package is available June through August and includes:
  • 3-day (9:00am - noon daily) parent/individual child "We Gourmet" classes.
  • 4-day complimentary afternoon usage of resort amenities including (1) private cabana per family.
  • 1 night deluxe accommodations for family of (4) people.
  • Group Cooking School Dinner (excluding alcohol) for a family of (4) people at Mary Elaine's fine dining restaurant.

For kids, the focus is on "Fun" which includes cooking classes, food sampling and more. The three, half-day classes, a maximum of (2) children per family include:

  • Fun to make a bed: housekeeping experts demonstrate how making a bed can be fun and easy.
  • Fun to make homemade ice cream with the pastry chefs.
  • Fun tasting: exploring the nuances of juices with the sommelier.
  • Fun table manners:
    • Foie gras: exposure to the crazy foods adults savor.
    • Utensils: what do you do with that tiny spoon anyway?
    • No how to gracefully decline yucky foods.
  • Children receive a complimentary apron and gift.

Mom and Dad will learn cooking techniques from the experts. The three, half-day classes include:

  • Interactive cooking classes in the resort kitchens learning southwestern grilling, Mediterranean/Taste of Italy techniques and Classic French cooking.
  • Participants receive a complimentary chef's apron, recipes, and culinary gift.

In addition, participants may take advantage of the resort's many amenities including nine swimming pools and a complimentary cabana provided for each family. At the end of the program, the entire family enjoys an overnight stay at the resort and children have the opportunity to "show off" their new etiquette skills at the famed Elaine's dining room.
