Ask Pamela
How can I bring that cozy, romantic B&B style
home?
One sure way to do that is to make sure youre home
is inviting from the minute you step up to the door. A
seasonal wreath or a few live plants in a planter placed
in the entry will give color and exuberance and give yourself
and guests an idea of the good things to come. Once inside,
make sure the air smells fresh and clear. A lot of people
enjoy the smell of citrus and an easy way to achieve that
is by placing an open bowl of pot pouri on a table near
the entry or in the living room using your own fresh dried
orange peels. Just place them in a cool spot to dry out
and add to that purchased pot pouri mix or petals from
your own plants or arrangements which may be dried on
newspaper or in the lid of a cardboard box. One innkeeper
trick is to always air out your rooms even for only a
few minutes per day allowing the fresh air in will brighten
up the whole atmosphere.
