OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS
Bath, Maine

BATH, MAINE IS PROUD OF ITS OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Bath's Old-Fashioned Christmas Celebration, which runs from November 24 through the end of December 2001, begins on the Saturday after Thanksgiving with a Christmas parade and a visit by Santa to City Hall. Lighting of the trees along Front and Center streets takes place that evening, and gingerbread and hot chocolate is served at the Cosmopolitan Club for all participants.

Merchants hold open houses on all Saturdays and Sundays during the celebration and serve refreshments, along with holiday specials. In addition, a special holiday show is featured at the Chocolate Church Performing Arts Center, carolers perform on Friday nights throughout the town, special trolley rides are available from the town's B&Bs and a special window decorating contest is held along Front and Center streets.

Bath is located right on the Kennebec River and is best known as a shipbuilding center. It is the home of the Bath Iron Works, Maine's largest employer, and features several beautiful homes in the downtown, along with a lovely library and historic customhouse.
