If your idea of an old-fashioned holiday involves dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh, then consider spending Christmas or the New Year at the C Lazy U Guest Ranch, the only guest ranch in the country to have received the Mobil Four Star, AAA Five Diamond awards. C Lazy U will celebrate the 2003-2004 holidays from December 20 through January 4.
C Lazy U truly sparkles during the holidays. The snow-covered grounds are decked in lights, and each guest accommodation is furnished with a Christmas tree for guests to decorate. Events leading up to the 'big day' include caroling, tree trimming and Santa arriving in a horse-drawn sleigh on Christmas Eve. Christmas day includes a wholesome holiday feast with all the trimmings. The family-oriented New Year's celebration includes traditional swing dancing and torchlit ice skating on the pond. When not celebrating, guests can enjoy cross country skiing, ice skating, snow tubing, sledding, horse drawn sleigh rides and horseback riding on the Ranch. There is a completely supervised activity program for children 3-17 years of age. Guests may also take advantage of the complimentary shuttle to the downhill ski areas at SolVista or Winter Park.
A five-night minimum stay during the holidays averages $275.00 per person per night, based on double occupancy. Children 3-17 receive a 20% discount. The award-winning accommodations range from rooms with twin beds to multi-room suites; most also include fireplaces and the deluxe rooms feature in-room Jacuzzi tubs and small refrigerators stocked with cold beverages. Meals are equally impressive: think smoked trout, grilled duck, and locally raised beef tenderloin. The absence of telephones and televisions in the rooms guarantees that you'll truly be getting away from it all!
